Our Editorial Vision
We tell inside stories about Queen Village—spotlighting people and places; arts and culture—giving readers a taste of what’s new in restaurants, bars, and music. We give the neighborhood scoop to our residents. We answer questions about how city programs work. We share what’s new at our schools, parks, and playgrounds. We announce upcoming activities and events.

Editorial Guidelines
QVNA is a nonprofit civic association representing the best interests of Queen Village. We provide and promote community stewardship, advocacy and service and we publish articles that are consistent with this mission.
We seek original content that will appeal to both new and longtime Queen Village residents, and you may contribute to our magazine in a number of ways. Editorially, we look for neighborhood stories with appeal to a broad range of Queen Village residents.
Whether you’d like to write a story or just suggest it, we’re happy to hear ideas from neighbors. Before contacting us, please take a look at what we can’t print in editorial, familiarize yourself with topics we’re interested in, and read an issue to get a feeling for how we cover stories.

How to Pitch Stories
It’s our strong preference to receive pitches before you’ve written anything so we can guide you on deadlines, length, angle, and tone. We regret that we can not guarantee that articles you pitch or send will be published.
When you’re ready to make your pitch, email our Editor with a short paragraph of the idea along with any photos you already have that could accompany the article or essay. We can then talk about how it might fit into the magazine, and, if you’re also writing the article, together we will work out details on word count, approach, and deadlines. Please note that all articles will go through an editorial process, and, due to the changing nature of events, even assigned articles may not run or run in the next issue—but we’ll try!
After submitted articles go to press, QVNA gives authors permission to republish elsewhere as long as QVNA receives credit, e.g., “This article originally appeared in the Spring 2020 issue of the Queen Village Quarterly Crier. It has been reprinted with permission.”
The Queen Village Quarterly Crier is a published as a community service for residents byQVNA, a non-profit Registered Community Organization (RCO). As a result, QVNA will NOT print articles that:
Promote a specific business, professional practice or for-profit interest. QVNA offers advertising opportunities for this purpose.
Launch or support a political campaign, lobbying effort, or are partisan in nature.
Are associated with a topic or activity not allowed for 501(c) (3) nonprofits.
Offer legal, medical, tax, or other professional advice.
Are of such a timely nature that the content cannot live past 3+ months.
Are based solely or substantively on a press release.
In the sole opinion of QVNA are not appropriate for publication in QVNA Magazine.
